Global Warming and Theology
This story appeared in BBC News online a month ago. It highlights the differences of opinion on global warming between two Christian universities in Virginia.
Global warming has become the number one environmental issue due to its vast impact on all other ecological areas. At MMA, we believe the earth is a gift from God and a finite resource that must be cared for through environmental stewardship. It is out of our desire to be faithful stewards of the earth that we pursue shareholder advocacy to encourage companies to curb greenhouse gas emissions and integrate climate change policies with their business plans.
I get the feeling that public awareness (and concern) about global warming has reached new heights. This is a positive development, though it does not automatically lead to increased action. The importance of this issue is difficult to overstate. Global warming is not a simple environmental concern - it is a civilization-wide problem and our time to mitigate its worst effects is severely limited.
